Plant Faithfully

A new club year is starting. A note for Awana leaders on planting seeds and trusting God with the growth.

“I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow.”

1 Corinthians 3:6 (NIV)

Plant faithfully, trust God with the growth

Dear leader,

A new club year is here. New names to learn, new handbooks to hand out, maybe a few nervous first-timers clinging to a parent's hand at the door. And maybe you're a little nervous too.

Here's some good news to carry into this season: you're not responsible for making kids grow. Paul reminded the church in Corinth that he planted and Apollos watered, but it was God who made things grow.

Your job is to plant. Show up. Learn names. Open the Bible. Pray. Cheer. Some weeks you'll see little sprouts right away: a question that shows a kid is really thinking, a verse recited with a huge grin. Other weeks it will feel like nothing is happening above the soil. That's okay. Seeds grow underground long before anyone sees them.

So plant faithfully this year, and trust God with the growth. He's been doing this a lot longer than any of us.

Cheering you on,

Your Awana family

Keep a sprout list

Write down one small "sprout" you notice each club night: a kind moment, a good question, a verse learned. Look back at your list in December and thank God.

Pray over your roster

Before the first few club nights, pray through your roster by name. Ask God to prepare their hearts like good soil.
