When You're Running Low
Six weeks in, and running a little low? A note for Awana leaders on finding new strength in God.
When you're running low
Dear leader,
The first-night excitement has worn off. The handbooks have a few bent corners, there's that one kid who tests every rule, and club night lands at the end of an already full day. If you're feeling a little worn thin, you're not alone. Almost every leader hits this point around now.
Isaiah wrote to people who were tired too. His answer wasn't "try harder." It was "hope in the Lord." Strength for this ministry doesn't come from our own energy. It comes from staying close to the God who never grows tired.
So before you pour out on club night, take a few minutes to be filled up. Read a psalm in the car before you walk in. Ask a friend to pray for you on Wednesdays. Let yourself rest on the other days of the week.
And remember why you started: the kids. The giggles at game time, the verses they're hiding in their hearts, the moment a kid realizes God loves them. That's eternal work, and God will give you what you need to keep going.
We're so glad you're here,
Your Awana family
Try this month
Fill up before you pour out
Spend five quiet minutes with God before you walk into club. Read a psalm, breathe, and ask Him for strength for the night ahead.
Find a prayer partner
Ask one friend or fellow leader to pray for you every club night this month, and offer to pray for them too.
